Don't Let Tool Glitches Get You Down

We’ve all been there - you arrive on-site, ready to work, only to find your tool isn’t working. Instantly, you worry about downtime and lost income.

The good news?

While fault-finding varies by tool, many SPIT tool issues can be fixed or prevented with a little routine maintenance and some TLC.

Common Tool Glitches

Firing issues

Check the fuel cell's bottom and expiry date, as expired fuel affects performance.

Cold temperatures can also impact firing, so warm the fuel if necessary before considering sending the tool for servicing.

Your Electrics

Electrical issues can impact tool performance. Damaged or disconnected cables may cause power loss, fan failure, or misfiring.

Check the wiring and remove the rear cap to inspect the electrics if needed.

Continuously running fan

This can occur when the tool probe is stuck in a retracted position (as it would be when you press the tool down prior to pressing the trigger).

If your probe is free moving, then that suggests that you don’t have a problem there.

4 Ways To Avoid Common Issues

1

Clean your tool

Regular maintenance can fix issues and prevent unnecessary repairs.

We recommend cleaning your tool every 3000-5000 shots

2

Check for jams

Ensure no nail or brad jams are blocking the tool; if clear, test the battery.

3

Test the battery

A flashing red and green charger light means it’s faulty—return it directly to us, and we can get it back in prime shape

4

Inspect Nails & Fuel

Swap them individually to rule out any batch issues affecting performance.

My tool still doesn't work properly - what now?

If you have carried out all the simple maintenance checks mentioned above, and you are still experiencing problems with your tool, it probably needs to be looked at by a trained tool service center.

Wondering what kind of service your tool requires or whether it will qualify for a warranty return?  Let us explain the servicing options available for your tools.

My tool is out of warranty, what should I do?

For tools needing service or repair beyond the warranty period, you can visit any authorised distributor. Costs will depend on the tool and service required.

Alternatively, you can contact Customer Services via the email form on our Contact Us page, or call 0800 833 381 and they will be able to support further.

I haven't registered my tool, can I still do this?

Yes, as long as your tool is within the 3-year warranty period, you can register at any time.

Registering your tool allows you to receive all the benefits of our FREE Service and Repair Support for 3 whole years.

I'm not sure if my tool is in warranty, how do I check?

You can check whether your tool is eligible for warranty by checking your tool's Serial Number.

The first 4 digits (e.g. 2022XXXXXXX) show the year your tool was made in; if the year is within the last 3 years, you're in!
